I can't comment on Alienware being good or bad, but I can comment on them being expensive. No computer manufacturer is doing anything different than any other person who's building a computer (besides sometimes using custom motherboards that typically have fewer features and are cheaper to manufacture).
Therefore, since Alienware PCs are absolutely overpriced for their specs, Azagoth's comment that a faster machine can be built for less money is absolutely true. There's not really much room to dispute that, as a matter of fact.

Well I'm going to tell you the same thing I told him
That’s your opinion, It's funny I benchmarked mine against my friends that said the same thing and my box out performed theirs.
Than again I really don't care what you or anyone esle can build what ever at cheaper price it doesn't always going to get you faster specs same for more costly price.
So like I said HAHAH, yeah what ever

So, do you think that Alienware is charging more for some kind of magical spell that makes their systems faster, then? Seriously?!?!?
If you've ever looked into building a system you'd know what we're talking about. The specs on your friend's computer are obviously not the same as yours. Perhaps close, but they're obviously not using the same components under the covers. Alienware has the same base components available to them that everyone else does. That fact and their pricing is not an opinion. I'm not ripping on your PC, just stating facts. I've been doing this stuff for a looooong time. Not going to argue with you about it. Thinking that Alienware systems are somehow magically faster doesn't make any sense.
Alienware are overpriced. It's no secret, my friend. It's a quite well-known fact throughout the hardware enthusiast community. Why don't you do some research on it? No need to get your feathers all ruffled about it. Relax.

@the OP: Have you tried this:- Download the newest drivers for your video card
- Completely uninstall the current video drivers
- Reboot, if prompted to add new hardware cancel out
- Install the video driver you downloaded
- Reboot
The reason that I suggest this is that several people I've spoken to recently have purchased PCs with corrupted/dodgy video driver installs from the factory. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver oftentimes helps this. Black screens are, 9 times out of 10, video driver issues. The driver may be up-to-date, but it might be a bad installation.

Not arguing with you. I just thought that clarifying that point might be helpful to others. You obviously aren't interested in hearing anything that contradicts your opinion, and are therefore incapable of participating in an actual argument in the first place, so why would I bother?

Everyone always says THEY can build one faster and better and cheaper. That where I stopped "HAHA WHAT EVER" nothing more to say really but you still don't get it do you?
Just the facts, Cheaper (or coslty) doesn't always mean faster or better is why the ""HAHA WHAT EVER"
Congrats on admitting that you are arguing with me.
You and the other guy are just basing your info on opioins from friends or whatever etc. The fact is with Billions of products sold every single day you will always have X amount people say I will never buy from so and so again and this and that is overpriced. Compared to the people that will buy from so and so again and had good experience with X products. With you and the other guy coming in here bashing X product is really helpful? I think Not, You are trying to use your influence over other people that may read & reading this thread to think other wise which wrong.
So know that I've spelled it out for you have a nice life

Urrrgggg I detest replying to posts like these but I can't let a comment like this slide.
Alienware 'product' compromises of the exact same material as any other computer (of the same type). Maybe their case has more fan capacity or maybe its sturdier but two exact systems (regardless of brand name) will rank exactly the same - assuming the same environment and same background processes.
If Nike has a shirt made of 100% cotton and Blue Navy (ok first thing that came to mind) came out with the exact same shirt but with no logo the quality of the shirt is no different. You are paying for a brand name.
There is nothing wrong with paying for a brand name if you are proud of the company (or various other reasons) but as someone else mentioned there is no 'magic' involved in the piecing together of a computer that Alienware has an advantage over.
There is clearly a difference in approach between you and the people your 'arguing' with. I right now am seeing them as level headed and they are definitely not trying to push their opinions on you. You need to take a breather and cool down.
If you do believe in magic though... I make computers with my ultra secret special sauce.
EDIT: to try to be more in topic....
This should not happen for GW but try to set the GW.exe to only one core. But lets try to cover all the bases shall we?
ctrl-alt-del -> Task Manager -> Processes -> Select and right-click GW.exe -> select "Set Affinity" -> only select "CPU 0"
Also try the suggested re installation of the video driver as Dex has mentioned.
You may also want to try a 3-rd party video driver and see if that solves your issue

You can disable the Ageia card in device manager also without having to take it out of the pc and see if you get the same results.
